Can you provide guidance on posters that need to be hung in the building per DOL guidelines?
Glad to help. Unfortunately, the posters that must be displayed depends on several factors, such as the size and industry of the employer, the type of work they do, and what benefits they offer. Federal contractors, governmental employers, large publicly traded companies, or small private employers all have different requirements.
The good news is that, for general federal employment laws, the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) makes this fairly easy. The DOL’s “FirstStep Poster Advisor” tool allows an employer identify which items, specifically, will need to be posted, given their unique circumstances. The DOL also provides free electronic copies of the required posters, and some of them are available in languages other than English.
We note that states may have additional poster requirements, so employers will also need to review the relevant guidance at their state department of labor.
